Our Story
Founded in 2004, CW Physio’s Inc. has grown into a thriving, multi-branch practice with a dedicated team of 14 passionate physiotherapists. We proudly operate from four convenient locations: Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital, Hillcrest Central, Pietermaritzburg, and Oatlands Medical Centre in Howick.
We’re often asked, “What does the CW stand for?” Originally, the practice was solely owned by Carel Wildenboer, whose initials formed the name CW Physio’s Inc. Following his decision to immigrate in 2019, the practice transitioned into a woman-led partnership under the leadership of Tracey-Lee Duplessis and Demi Humphries. The new leadership has remained committed to the warm, family-centered ethos that has defined our practice since its inception—making a name change feel unnecessary.
At CW Physio’s Inc., our mission is simple: to guide you back to a pain-free, functional life, whether that means returning to everyday activities, sport, or pursuing long-term goals. We are committed to treating not just your symptoms but the root cause of your discomfort.
We invest heavily in continuous learning, with our team completing annual training courses and staying at the forefront of evolving physiotherapy techniques. This ensures we consistently deliver evidence-based, effective care.
Our team is dynamic and diverse, with a broad range of special interests and expertise to meet your individual treatment needs. Above all, we pride ourselves on offering compassionate, high-quality care—and we look forward to walking alongside you on your recovery journey.
A Collaborative Approach
Welcome to our space — where your recovery is our shared mission.
At CW Physio’s Inc., we believe that healing happens best through collaboration — between therapist and patient, between team members, and across disciplines. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’re not just entering a practice, you’re joining a supportive environment where knowledge, compassion, and teamwork come together to help you reach your goals.
Over the years, CW Physio’s Inc. has expanded to include four thriving branches, located at Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital, Hillcrest Central, Pietermaritzburg, and Oatlands Medical Centre in Howick—ensuring accessible, high-quality care across the region.

Physical therapy is not just about strengthening muscles, it’s about empowering people.

Questions & Answers
If you don’t see your question listed or need more personalised advice, we’re here to help. Feel free to get in touch—our friendly team is always happy to chat and guide you on your journey to better health.
No referral needed! You’re welcome to contact us directly to schedule your consultation. However, if you do have a referral from your doctor or specialist, feel free to bring it along—it can help inform us on your treatment plan.
Your first visit will include a comprehensive assessment where we take the time to understand your condition, medical history, and lifestyle. Based on this, we’ll develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your goals—and in most cases, begin your therapy right away.
We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. If a specific area—like your shoulder, knee, or back—needs to be assessed, please wear something that provides easy access to that region (e.g. shorts for lower limb concerns or a vest for upper body assessments).
Every recovery journey is unique. Some clients experience improvement within just a few sessions, while others may require ongoing care to achieve long-term results. Your physiotherapist will regularly review your progress and adjust your treatment plan to ensure it stays aligned with your goals.
Session fees may vary depending on the type and duration of treatment. For the most accurate and up-to-date pricing, please contact your nearest CW Physio’s Inc. branch directly. We’re happy to provide a breakdown of costs and assist with any medical aid queries.
We understand the convenience of receiving exercises remotely, but to ensure your safety and effectiveness of treatment, a thorough assessment is essential. Every body is different, and without properly evaluating your condition, we can’t tailor exercises to your specific needs—or avoid causing further injury.
Once assessed, we’re happy to provide a customised home exercise program, often supported by follow-up emails or app-based tools.
With multiple branches and a diverse team of physiotherapists, we understand that choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. The good news is—you don’t have to decide alone.
When you contact us, our reception team will ask a few quick questions about your condition, location, and preferences. From there, we’ll match you with a physiotherapist who has the right expertise and special interests to best support your recovery, at the branch most convenient for you.
